eraserheads reunion concert - updates and whatnot

Friday, August 29, 2008

That subject has been active in my inbox for almost two months now.  It’s like my, Porshee’s, PJ’s, and his other music junkie friends’ own version of PEP.  It started with a rumor.  There wasn’t much effort in spreading it around ‘coz, you see, it’s the improbable (but not impossible) reunion concert every Ehead fanatic’s been dreaming about since the David Lynch movie-inspired band disbanded in 2002.  They weren’t just pop sensations.  There were The Beatles of the Pinoy music scene. And anyone from our generation who did not have at the very least one favorite Ehead song must’ve been living under a rock.  So naturally, when the words “ERASERHEADS,” “REUNION,” and “CONCERT” began circulating in cyberspace, we fanatics began jumping up and down at the prospect of seeing the four members of the One Pinoy Band That Mattered onstage again.

It was pure torture.  Waiting for finality and the details of the concert.  Just when everybody was overflowing with anticipation, news broke out that it might not push through. (Long story.  You should’ve been watching the news or surfing the net.)

But the good news is:  it’s pushing through!  And it’s tomorrow!

The greater news is:  I’M WATCHING!  Yahoooooooo!!!

Okay,  honey, calm down.  Calm down.  Breath in.  Breathe out.  Now, take a seat.  Relax.

Okay, so there.   The other day, I was blowing steam due to another Single White Female episode in my life.  But just as I was about to blow someone’s head off, PJ sent me an MMS….

Instantly, I was in Rock Heaven and singing “Sa wakas, ay nakita ko na..ang aking hinahanap!”  A couple of my officemates were psyched as well so it didn’t take much for the Eraserheads Reunion Concert fever to spread.  Pretty soon we were all gabbing about it and humming our Eheads favorites!

And now that I have a ticket and my friends and I have pretty much planned our we-camp-out-at-the-site-early-so-we-can-get-good-seats strategy, the next problem is:  WHAT WOULD BE THE PERFECT ROCKER CHICK OUTFIT FOR THE CONCERT? Oh, I think I’m going shopping this afternoon! ;)

Single White Female.  Allison Jones’ (Bridget Fonda) broke up with her fiance.  In order to maintain her apartment, she found a new roommate.  They become instant friends.  The roommate gets on Allison’s good sides, cooking for her, doing her laundry, treating her like a bestfriend.  But Allison’s roomate is about to borrow a few things without asking.  Her clothes, her ex-boyfriend her life.  The movie ends with a bloody confrontation between Allison and the roommate.  The latter ends up dying.

Pretty psychotic, actually.  Some say Fatal Attraction is the more appropriate movie.  Haven’t watched it so I’m yet to decide.  Ate Ains (the ever rational and saintly Ate Ains), on the other hand, says, “‘Wag ka na magpaapekto.  You have a very blessed life.    Pagdasal mo na lang siya.”  Hmm.  She has a point.  But I’m not the type to pray for snakes so I’m settling for “wag nang magpaapekto.”  And if someone can teach me how to block obssessive text messages and phone calls, I’d go for that too.

Won’t be touching base at the House of Loonies this weekend because of, duh, THE concert.  So The Sister Extraordinaire sent me a couple of MMS.

A message is to a bottle, as Danielle is to a glass pot!

She’s giggly but she cries too!  She and Mars are turning out to be quite the bestfriends.

(This wasn’t staged!)

The best things in life are indeed free.  And sometimes, they come in small and adorable packages! ;)

You have a stalker??? Ingat ka. Too many psychos out there. I saw Fatal Attraction when it came out and it presents the risks in some relationships. We never know when a person will just snap.

Very cute pictures of Danielle and those kids. :)

Fatal Attraction starred Glenn Close and Michael Douglas. Michael Douglas played the role of a married guy who had a one night stand with Glenn Close’s character. He eventually realized that this was more than an ONS when Glenn Close’s character started obsessing over him. Good movie that came out in 1987.
